Yellow Sapphire, why are they so expensive? 
Yellow Sapphires relate to the planet Jupiter but I am going to address, price and what makes a gem more expensive than anther. This is a beautiful Natural Yellow Sapphire. Unusally natural Yellow Sapphires are pale Yellow but the earth is giving up some very intense natural Yellow Sapphires these days, a very rare find.
Yellow Sapphires are priced by intensivity of Yellow. The more Yellow the gem, the more the price goes up. This also applies to carat weight. As soon as a gem goes over 1 carat and 3 carats, the price goes up because it is difficult to find that much gem material. Also, if a gem is very clear, with out any inclusions, that makes the price go up also.
Intensity of color, carat weight and clarity are important factors when you are considering purchasing a gemstone. More and more people are requesting natural gems these days, which is making the price also rise. Most gems are enhanced or treated in some way. To find a natural untreated gem is rare. Some clients jump right in and buy a precious gem and others dip their toes into the water with a semi-precious gem, to see what they experience. What is important, is you listening to yourself and doing what feels right for you, where you are at this time in your life.
I had a client who had a budget of $300.00, so he ordered a small Ruby, 1.2 carats. He started wearing it and his income increased along with his writing.
